Five things I like and you should too.
It's late, I'm bored. Here's five things I'm groovin' on lately.
1. Donny Hathaway - Everything is Everything (1970)
An LP that caught me totally out of left field. I've been listening to a lot of Motown lately, sort of looking for something in the Marvin Gaye/Stevie Wonder vein and I think I found the combo I've been looking for with Donny Hathaway. An absolute perfect record from an immensely talented individual who's life was cut short by his suicide in 1979. This should be on more "best albums" lists.
2. Bolthouse Farms beverages.
Oh, mango lemonade, how I love thee. Strawberry banana smoothie, you're good too.
3. New York Doll
Bittersweet documentary about former New York Dolls bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane. The film chronicles his life after the Dolls, as well as touches on his conversion to Mormonism in the late 1980's. During the course of filming, Kane is offered the once in a lifetime chance to reform the band for a show in London. Kane must decide if he's able to put aside differences with his former bandmates and accomplish his goal of reforming the band he helped found thirty years prior.
4. Threadless
Best. T-Shirts. Ever.
5. (+44) - No It Isn't (Demo) (mp3)
First released song from the new band with former Blink-182 members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. The album When Your Heart Stops Beating drops November 14. This song makes me really excited for what's to come. Certainly a hell of a lot better than most of the Angels & Airwaves disc.
