Ahhh, Springtime, How I Missed You So
Spring is here. Finally. With the coming of spring means the release of NEW (and sometimes) LONG AWAITED ALBUMS.
Here's a couple I've been listening to lately.
Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need To Whisper (2006)
This had 'summer album' written all over it as soon as I heard what I was going to sound like. A little bit of U2, a little bit of The Cure and a whole lot of Tom Delonge on this album. Not the best thing in the world, but it's absolutely perfect to play driving down the road on a sunny day with the windows down.
Key Track: "The Adventure"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones (2006)
Really different from Fever To Tell. Very pretty, a lot mellower. The first album was full of scrappy punk tunes - and this one.. just shimmers. It's a dark, vibrant meloncholy masterpiece.
Key Track: "Dudley"
The Streets - The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living (2006)
I'm beginning to think that the more complicated life gets for Mike Skinner, the better his music is. After a brilliant 2004 album A Grand Don't Come For Free, Skinner comes back with an album full of songs dealing with... you guessed it...the trappings of fame.
Key Track: "Two Nations"
